Data format recovery is usually possible, because the action of formatting a disk does not erase any of the data from the disk, just the data which tells the operating system which sector is which. The same steps should be followed to get the software working on the computer. Don't ever download software directly onto the main computer's hard drive because you do not know what it will overwrite.
